Purchase of the Week #2
| Following the posting of my kitsch postcards last week, I starting a regular(ish) series of posts & flickr set of my thrifty secondhand purchases. This week's purchase is from a local junk shop and cost all of 50p. I quite like looking at old technical drawings and this little book is full of them. As you can imagine, its not exactly a page-turner but I was really sold on the old battered blue/yellow dustjacket and the slightly wonky embossing on the hardback cover. ![]() Title: "FORD CARS, Anglia, Prefect, Popular 8 and 10", 1961, Third Edition, Publishers: C Arthur Pearson, London The icing on the cake was finding this 2 colour leaflet inside for car insurance: ![]() After literally minutes of searching the Internet, I was disappointed to find that "Gt. Britain's oldest established motor insurance specialist" is no more and its its old premises on Sheen Road, SW14 is now Pinpoint Haberdashers... ![]() I really like the simple illustrations inside, and the choice of icons for each profession. While teachers are represented by a mortar board and cane, bankers by money, civil servants get a nice big pot of tea! |
